Why I’ll Never Again Gatecrash A Party

It’s Saturday night, I’m at work, and my neighbors play fantastic music, and I’m thinking of asking them to turn up the volume…

In my squandered young years, I realized that when you want to dance, you can buy the wine you want, wear a lovely dress, and smile. Then say, “John invited us,” and you’re good to go.

However, some occasions didn’t take place as planned…

For the time, I (Caucasian), along with a couple of Asian friends, tried to sneak into a unique event with fantastic music and an excellent sound system. We got super excited… Then we took our alcohol and knocked on the doors. A man with a smile answered the door, accompanied by smiling black people from four generations to his left in the living room with a striking similarity in looks, all dressed in Sunday attire, and, well, you’ve already guessed, an entire family gathering! Then, red-faced, we took our excuses. We didn’t have the correct address we stated. We returned to our home and watched television at our leisure…

This fiasco was not rediscovered many years later, and I have been enticed again. I hadn’t learned my lesson.

My neighbors next door seemed to be having a party each day. But I wasn’t invited. The music bouncing off the thick concrete walls produced a fantastic sound. It was too much for me to take the massive bass, the thumping beat, and the laughter of the crowd! So Armed with a bottle of great wine, I summoned my strength and knocked at their door. It was the end of the road. The door was opened, and they smiled broadly and told me I was thrilled to be there. They welcomed me in, and I saw everyone sitting around the television. It was not a lot of people there, just a few. Everyone was watching the film Jungle Book and singing and cheering along. I was not a fan of Jungle Book. Oh, dear. This was an extremely long evening.

After hours of trying to force my face to smile, my face was aching. My arms hurt after hours of attempting to make a clap. My voice was all intact. However, that was because I could not understand the tunes’ lyrics.

After the film was finally allowed to end, I thanked them for their support in the most sincere way I could and then retreated into the quiet of my house.

Naturally, it was the last time I attended and gatecrashed. The lesson learned.

The neighbor’s music next to me (different property) is excellent while I write. I tap for attraction. The temptation disappears. I like listening to music from a distance. It’s a good life.
